Professor Karen Travis

Professor Travis has practiced law for approximately 30 years, in the areas of medical litigation, education law, civil rights, and criminal defense. Ms. Travis is an accomplished trial attorney, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal trials and arbitrations. She is admitted to practice in the state courts in California as well as the U.S. District Court for the Central and Eastern Districts of California.

Before coming to St. Francis, Prof Travis was a full-time faculty member at another distance learning law school, serving as the Director of the Academic Success Program and Professor of Law. Professor Travis has taught several law school courses including Torts, Contracts, Criminal Law, Professional Skills (legal writing), Professional Responsibility, Evidence, Remedies, Products Liability Litigation, as well as FYLSE (First Year Law School Examination) Preparation and GBX (California General Bar Examination) Preparation. In addition to teaching, Professor Travis is the Director of Academic Excellence at St. Francis, providing academic support services.
